Subject: Cali Time (7th Period Enrichment)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to share an important update regarding our enrichment and elective program for the upcoming school year.

Traditionally, students select their elective courses at this time of year. However, as we continue to refine and strengthen our academic offerings, we will not be following that process this year. Instead, we are introducing a new structure for 7th period enrichment classes called Cali Time, which in Nahuatl means “home” or “family.”

Through the Cali Time program, students will participate in a dynamic and well-rounded enrichment experience. Each student will rotate through four different classes throughout the year, taking a new course each quarter. These rotations will be organized by grade level and designed around engaging themes such as Science, Art, Literacy Skills, and more.

Another important update is that Cali Time will now be a graded course. Instead of receiving a credit/no credit mark, students will earn letter grades. The average of the two quarterly grades will be recorded as the semester grade on the student’s transcript.

Please note that no action is required from families or students regarding Cali Time placement—students will automatically be enrolled in these rotations.

Leadership and Teacher Assistant (TA) courses will continue to be offered as year-long classes for 7th and 8th grade students only. Students interested in participating in Leadership or TA will need to complete an application process. Applications will be made available through Google Classroom, and additional information will be shared with eligible students soon.

We are excited about the opportunities that the Cali Time program will provide and believe it will support the development of well-rounded, engaged learners. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your continued support,
The Cali Admin Team
